Setting the standard for the safe operation of vehicles
Under expected new legislation to strengthen existing corporate manslaughter legislation, a company’s behaviour is likely to be measured against ‘industry standards’. Behaviour falling far below what can reasonably be expected is likely to result in conviction. ICON sets the standard for a safe, fair and effective road haulage industry.

And it’s not just legislators who are talking about industry standards. Traffic Commissioners see a need for industry standards to support the requirement to demonstrate that proper arrangements are in place as required by Operator Licence undertakings.
Any operator who follows the ICON programme can be confident that he has, as required by his ‘O’ licence undertakings, proper arrangements in place. And if need be, with ICON they can prove it.
Proper arrangements are about safe, fair and efficient road transport. An industry standard is needed to take these principles forward.
